FOUNDATIONAL COURSE IN STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING is to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to design safe and efficient structures. It provides students with a strong foundation in the fundamental principles of structural analysis, design skills, and an understanding of the ethical and societal issues surrounding structural engineering.
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
To understand the principles of structural analysis, including topics such as stress and strain analysis, beam theory, and structural stability.
Develop an understanding of structural behaviour: The course aims to help students understand how structures behave under different loads and conditions, including static and dynamic loads, and how to analyse and design structures that can withstand these loads.
Learn about different structural materials: The course aims to introduce students to the properties and behaviour of different structural materials, including concrete, steel, timber, and composites, and how to select the most appropriate material for a given application.
Develop design skills: The course aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to design safe and efficient structures, including the ability to select appropriate materials, analyse loads and stresses, and develop structural designs that meet regulatory standards.
UG PROGRAMS: B.E., B. Tech, in Structural Engineer
PG PROGRAMS: M.E., M. Tech in Structural Engineer
COURSE DURATION: 2 days
CAREER OPTIONS:
Structural Engineer: Structural engineers design and analyse buildings, bridges, and other structures to ensure they can withstand various loads, such as wind, earthquakes, and gravity.
Construction Manager: Construction managers oversee construction projects, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling, to ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget.
Consulting Engineer: Consulting engineers provide expert advice and services to clients on various engineering projects, including structural design, construction, and maintenance.
Project Manager: Project managers are responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of engineering projects.
Research and Development Engineer: Research and development engineers conduct research to develop new technologies, materials, and products for the construction industry.
Bridge Engineer: Bridge engineers specialize in the design, construction, and maintenance of bridges and other transportation infrastructure.
Risk Engineer: Risk engineers evaluate the risks associated with engineering projects, including structural failures, and develop plans to mitigate those risks.
